**Subsidy Update**
Subsidy Payment for Days Children are Absent
The Ministry may continue to pay childcare subsidy for a period of up to 2 weeks for child care if a child is absent because the child is on vacation or the child or parent is ill. The child care provider must record the reason for the absence in an attendance register.
If a parent does not bring the child on a day when they had booked to do so, and they are not ill or on vacation, then the parent is responsible for the payment on that day as subsidy will not cover it.
It would be a good idea for care providers to have a policy stating this information so it would be up to the parent to inform care providers that they were on vacation or ill.

Criminal Record Check Changes:
Starting January 2008 it is required that all applicable individuals undergo a recheck every five (5) years. Licensed providers will be processed through the licensing office and LNRs will be contacted by CCRR staff. For those LNRs whose record checks have been on file longer than five years, CCRR will be processing them by December 2008. Costs will be the responsibility fo the child care provider.
