Please join us as we welcome Hannah Beach to present an engaging and inspiring full day training. We will be exploring two workshops sessions:
Morning Session: Un-Stuck: Helping a Child Shed a Negative Self-identity
Children can get stuck in roles that prevent them from thriving. This is especially true for the kids who are the most emotionally blocked and are labelled as ‘problem kids’ due to their behavioural challenges.
How children see themselves has a huge impact on who they are and who they will grow to be. It can be really hard for kids who see themselves as the ‘bad’ kid to get out of that role. This presentation will shed light on the various ways that we can help children to experience themselves differently so that their identity can expand. We will explore relationship based strategies that can help us to support this process so that the children in our care can thrive.
Afternoon Session: The Loss of Play in the Lives of Children: Ramifications and Remedies
Play provides us a safe space to access our feelings and in doing so, it serves a significant role in the unfolding of human potential. When we hear the word ‘play,’ many of us think of young children and toys. Growing numbers of us have replaced play with entertainment. We are now seeing the emotional side effects of the loss of play in the lives of children as aggression and anxiety in children increases. This presentation will explore the broader aspects of play and how it provides for natural therapy in the lives of children. We will examine how play can make it easier to access feelings - a key aspect to development and maturation. We will explore the extraordinary power of play and how it offers essential emotional outlets and builds resilience.
Bringing the learning to life! This workshop includes an experiential component so that participants can engage in hands-on and interactive play activities that are specifically designed to help kids feel and express themselves. By trying these activities themselves, participants gain invaluable insights and the confidence to lead the children in their care through the very same experiences.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for anyone who would like to help children thrive. We welcome child care providers, practitioners, parents, grandparents and anyone else with a child in their life.
