Free to Play: The Developmental Benefits of Play

This workshop includes a review of developmental ages and stages of play; a reflection on the qualities of play; a discussion of the many realities of family life and how these impact children's play today; and some concrete examples of multi-sensory, play-based learning experiences.

Kate has been an Early Childhood Educator for fifteen years, currently working as a Strong Start Facilitator in the Richmond School District. She also holds a degree in Primary Education, and works for the Vancouver Art Gallery offering family education programs. She shares her passion for quality play with her husband, also an Early Childhood Educator, and their three children.
